Welcome to the website of St Aelred’s Catholic Technology College. St Aelred’s has been serving the communities of Newton Le Willows, St Helens, Warrington and Wigan since 1964. In September 2011 we will become a joint faith Academy with Newton Le Willows Community High School. The Academy will be sponsored by the Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool, the Church of England Diocese of Liverpool and Hope University. These are exciting times for all of us but they are tinged with sadness since St Aelred’s will cease to exist in July 2011. All of those associated with St Aelred’s: staff, pupils and parents, both past and present are proud of its achievements and its traditions. We are determined to give it the send off it deserves: standards will be high and examination grades will be our best ever. This is a wonderful school, not least of all for its remarkable ethos and its culture of caring and respect. I hope our website gives something of the flavour of life in our College. We will certainly want to keep our former pupils and colleagues in touch with plans for our final year. Please do not hesitate to contact Mr Lomas at school if you have any photographs or ideas you would like to contribute.

St Aelred was a great example to all of us. As a monk at Rievaulx he was dedicated to the service of God and of others. We will strive in our daily lives and in our futures to be of service to our community as it is now and as it moves towards its new beginnings as Hope Academy.

Mr E Marr

Acting Headteacher
